City Council Endorses Development Proposal in Wyandotte County

The Unified Government submitted a Notice of Need (N27048) for the development of a full-service hotel with a minimum of 225 rooms and a 30,000 – 50,000 square feet convention center in the Village West development in western Wyandotte County.

The City of Edwardsville recently approved a series of incentives as well as final development plans for the Village South at Edwardsville project. The first phase of this development, which broke ground on March 22, includes two hotels totaling 185 rooms, a full-service restaurant, and a 26,000 SF convention/meeting space.

The Notice of Need and the project currently under construction in Village South closely match each other and the development group beind Village South at Edwardsville, Lamont Companies, submitted a response to the Unified Government stating its committed to increasing the size of the hotels and the convention center to meet or exceed the minimum requirements. This proposal would also reduce the incentive package required if the development were located elsewhere in Wyandotte County.

The City Council unanimously approved Resolution 2017-08, which supports the proposal submitted by the Lamont Companies. This resolution, as well as a letters of support to the Mayor, County Commissioners, and County Administrator were issued the week of March 27, 2017.
