[ARCHIVED] City Manager Shares Information about Parks Projects

Family Playing on Playground Equipment

City Manager Michael Webb presented information to the City Council and attendees at the regular City Council meeting that took place on October 14, 2019.

Earlier this year, the City was approached by a business located in the Industrial Park who was interested in an expansion project that, if allowed, would involve land that is currently within the Edwardsville City Park. City staff began informal discussions regarding this project over the summer. As details regarding the project, known as Project Green, began to materialize, a notice was published in the Wyandotte Echo notifying interested persons that an exchange of park land was being considered.

To date, no formal action has been brought to the City Council as Project Green remains in its exploratory phases. However, City staff wished to present pertinent details of this project as well as other related projects that could affect the future of parks and public spaces in the City of Edwardsville.

The presentation from the meeting is provided in the link below. The two members of the public who spoke at the meeting on this subject both noted they were originally against the project but the details shared at this meeting eventually changed their minds.  Additional questions or concerns can be shared with the Assistant City Manager at zdaniel@edwardsvilleks.org or at 913-356-6002
