On November 9, 2020, the Edwardsville City Council authorized the City Manager to enter into a contract with KC Disposal (10011 Woodend Rd., Edwardsville, KS 66111), to provide trash and recycling pickup service beginning in 2021. The City's existing agreement with Waste Management will conclude at the end of this year.
The last day for service by Waste Management (WM) will be Tuesday, December 29. WM asks that all containers be left out at their regular pickup spot at each address regardless of if they have materials for collection or not. WM will conduct their final collection at that time and will also collect their trash and recycling carts. On that same day, KC Disposal will begin dropping off new 95-gallon trash containers and 65-gallon recycling containers to every residential address in Edwardsville. These are the same sized containers as what WM currently uses.
WM will conduct sweeps of the City on Dec. 30th and 31st, collecting carts that were not picked up on the 29th. Similarly, KC Disposal (KCD) may also need to schedule follow-up visits to addresses that were missed during the initial drop-off. If on Tuesday, Dec. 29, your WM trash or recycling container were not picked up or your KCD new containers were not dropped off, please contact Assistant City Manager Zack Daniel at 913-356-6002 or via e-mail at zdaniel@edwardsvilleks.org.
New rates associated with solid waste collection will be discussed at the Dec. 14 meeting of the Edwardsville City Council, which will be held virtually using the GoToMeeting app (invite instructions will be released Friday, Dec. 11). Monthly trash rates are expected to increase less than 1% at that time (or approximately $0.13 per month).
