[ARCHIVED] KC Disposal to Assist with Trash/Recycling Recovery

KCD image

The City of Edwardsville staff is aware of the service failure from Waste Management stemming from the lack of service during its last regular pick-up day, Tuesday, December 29. This was the last scheduled pick-up for Waste Management as part of their expiring City-wide residential contract.

Due to this service failure, the City's new contracted partner, KC Disposal, has agreed to collect trash and recycling from both the new blue containers (dropped off last week) as well as the previous Waste Management containers.

For trash service pickup scheduled for tomorrow, January 5:
  • Please leave all containers (KC Disposal and Waste Management) at your curb to be emptied like a normal pickup.
  • Leave your Waste Management containers at the curb for WM to pick-up and take away after they are emptied.
  • You may move your new blue containers to their regular spot after they are emptied. These will be your new containers moving forward.

We have not received a firm timeline on pickup of old cans, but will communicate that information when we do. Apologies again on this service delay, and thank you to our new service provider KC Disposal for assisting in this remedy. The City is continuing to explore the available credit options for residential accounts due to this service interruption on the part of Waste Management.

*Note: This does not apply to commercial accounts or the Edwardsville Mobile Home Park, who are not included in the City's residential contract.
