[ARCHIVED] Extreme Cold Delays, Changes Services

The historic cold event affecting the midwest has had measurable impacts in the Edwardsville community. First, the City's solid waste service provider KC Disposal notified City staff that regular pickup would be delayed one day from Tuesday to Wednesday due to weather conditions and the modified opening/closing schedule of the Johnson County landfill. Secondly, electric utility companies (including local service provider Evergy) has begun notifying customers of potential rolling blackouts in order to conserve electrical supply. If you rely on electricity to maintain life support equipment such as oxygen concentrators, please ensure your home is registered with the appropriate utility companies to prevent an outage in your home.  Please do not call 9-1-1 to report a power outage unless that outage causes a life threat.

Public Works crews continue to treat roads and plow snow as cold and precipitation continues throughout the week.
