The Cemetery, Parks, and Public Spaces (CPPS) Board recently approved funding for a monument restoration project to take place at the City Cemetery. This process involves use of a biodegradable solution that will safely and effectively remove buildup, grime, and moss on older headstones. About 100 monuments in the "old" section of the Cemetery have been identified for this work. The CPPS Board plan on similar restoration and maintenance projects to take place each year, prior to Memorial Day. This work should be completed by mid-May (weather pending). Weather conditions must allow for no rain at the site as it could interfere with with the cleaning solution process.
Clean-up projects are also scheduled for the Stony Point Cemetery to take place in early spring.
