[ARCHIVED] Quiet Zone Reconstruction Begins 9/13

RR closed

The 4th St. railroad crossing will be closed beginning the morning of September 13. Reconstruction of the street section, including installation of curbs and gutters, will begin that morning as part of the Quiet Zone project. The Quiet Zone project is a County initiative (with City support) that will convert the train crossing into a silent crossing. This means passing trains will no longer blow their horns as they cross through Edwardsville. Enhanced safety and warning light infrastructure will be in place to ensure driver and pedestrian safety.

Once City staff has a more definitive timeline on the lengths of the closure, an update will be  posted.
