A Message from Chief Mark Mathies

It is my pleasure to welcome you to our website and am pleased to offer you this opportunity to enhance your knowledge of the Edwardsville Police Department.

Located south of the Kansas Speedway, Edwardsville is among the area’s most prosperous communities, featuring an excellent balance of developments and strong, but manageable growth.  Edwardsville also benefits from excellent schools and public services.  Its best feature-at least according to most residents-is its continued image of a rural, small-town atmosphere accessible to the resources offered by a larger metropolitan region.

The Police Department is currently staffed with 15 sworn personnel and one Municipal Court Clerk.  There are 4 patrol sergeants and two detectives on staff to assist in daily management of our operations.

In 2008 the men and women of the Edwardsville Police Department will be renewing its commitment to the highest professional standards and developing organizational values that each employee will be expected to reflect in both their personal and professional lives.  Values such as loyalty, integrity, fairness, and excellence will not be mere “buzz” words, but will be foundations from which all our services are provided.

The Police Department will be committed to organizational transparency, promoting unity and partnerships with the citizenry through open communication, education, cooperation, and fair and equal treatment, contributing to the improvement in the quality of life, and making Edwardsville a safe community of which we can all be proud.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or comments regarding the police department operations or its personnel.  Please note, questions regarding employment opportunities should not be sent to my email; however, they may be directed to the Office Administrator, Amanda Holloway, at
