Police Records

Availability

Accidents reports and offense reports are available after it has been finalized and approved by a Police supervisor. Only page one of the offense report is available to the public. Arrest reports are available to Attorneys under Discovery with the Municipal Court.

Accident reports can be obtained through mailing in payment, along with letter requesting the report or can be obtained by coming into the Police Department. Proof of identification is required to obtain police reports. For offense reports, requests must be made in writing in person at the Police Department.

Body-worn device or in-car camera release requirements

Upon request, the Custodian of Records shall allow the following individuals to review recordings captured by a body-worn device or in-car camera:

  • A person who is a subject of the recording.
  • A parent or legal guardian of a person under 18 who is a subject of the recording.
  • The attorney for a subject of the recording.
  • An heir at law, an executor or an administrator of a decedent, when the decedent is a subject of the recording.

  • Individual involved in accident - $5
  • Insurance Company - $15
  • Law Enforcement Agency - Fee waived

  • Attorney under Discovery - $15
  • Insurance Company - $15
  • Law Enforcement Agency - Fee waived
  • Victim living in Edwardsville - Fee waived
  • Victim not living in Edwardsville - $5

CD / DVD Media

  • Attorneys under Discovery - $15
  • Law Enforcement Agency - Fee waived

Fingerprinting: Due to COVID-19 fingerprinting services are postponed at this time.

  • Walk in requests - $15 per card
  • Court order - $15 will be added to court fines
  • Prints can be done on Tuesdays from 8 AM to 12 PM
