The Edwardsville Planning Commission conducts regular meetings once a month. The 2017 Planning Commission Calendar includes a schedule of critical submittal, public notice, review and meeting dates for 2017.
Planning Commission Duties
The Edwardsville Planning Commission is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations on a variety of planning and development items including platting, architectural and site planning, and zoning activities in the city. The Commission is also involved in the development of long-range planning studies and planning / development related ordinances.
As of mid-2016, the Planning Commission also acts at the Board of Zoning Appeals (or BZA). The BZA is authorized to hear appeals in the matters relating to all zoning ordinances and to review ordinance interpretations made by City staff. The BZA operates similar to a court of law and is a quasi-judicial body required to follow accepted procedures to fairly evaluate relevant facts related to the cases before them.
